So another drift event happened in my area, and naturally, I had to shoot it, and just like last time, I found the best spot outside of the marked off area, clearly labeled with caution tape, and posted up, in the "safety zone". Shortly I was joined by another photographer from out of town and we exchanged camera settings and witty banter while pausing every little bit to capture the tire shredding insanity happening mere feet from us. I had posted behind a tree for protection in the event of an out of control car, though really, I know this would offer little in the way of protection, it just made me feel better. After a a little bit, this happened. And then I knew, it was time to move. Again. Sure enough, shortly thereafter, officials came to have the stupid photographer near the apex of the last turn move before he gets killed. This cone could've injured/killed me, and though I'm fine, it really drives home the point that photography is an art, and sometimes you need a better brush, so next go round, I'll try and have a longer lens, to get further back, and avoid getting pelted about the head and neck by car parts/cones/tire shreds/whole cars, because it's just not worth dieing for.

Not photographic gold, but here's some more Q10 shots, and hopefully, I'll carve out some time for a full review shortly, until then, enjoy.
-Stunch So I have been thinking of affordable cameras for people who would want a DSLR but don't have tons of money, and since I already made a recommendation for a sweet cheap mirrorless in the Nikon 1 J1 article, I figured it would be a good time to announce my interest the Pentax K20D. I have yet to shoot with one but the image pool is full of great shots, and the 14.5mp count is above average for an older camera, a sensor co-developed by Samsung, it's thick and meaty (which is nice in a dedicated shooter) and, AND! it's easily had for less than 250$. It has some other great features as well, like being weather sealed (for under 250$!), lots of buttons and dials, a nice digital screen on the topside, and though this may sound like a negative, it has no video mode, which for me in some cameras I see as a bonus, since it allows me to only think in photographic terms. it ONLY takes photos, and by what I'm reading, it does a good job of it too. Because it's a Pentax, the resale is low, and the performance, for the buck, should be high. I'll be on the look out for one and if I can get some lens time, I'll try and write a full review. -Stunch As some of you may know, I take photographs for a living, and when you do this, if you photograph the same stuff over and over, sometimes you want to take pictures of something else. So here's a collection of photos I have taken around my photo booth, of anything but what I normally shoot. Some are just fun, some more artistic, but they are all photos of other things.
-Stunch This is the photo I entered in the Kettle Deep Ellum Photo Contest.
The Idea was to capture Deep Ellum in one photo. I think this did a great job, and though I did not walk away a winner, I still think it was a cool entry. Enjoy, and feel free to download. Print is available for purchase at the Kettle Art Gallery in Deep Ellum for a measly 50$, get it while it's hot. - Stunch Stubbs finally got a camera. It took some time, but he got one, and he asked me for some advice on how to make it work properly, so we went to the Fort Worth Stockyards, which had recently had a large collapse due to an epic windstorm, to get some lens time before he took a trip out of state with his new toy (a Canon XTi).
