Just a few quick shots from the Community Nights Event from last weekend, tons of fun. These Images were shot with the amazingly underrated, Pentax K-x shooting at a lowly 12mp. My Pentax for the evening was very well used, and was strapped to a kit lens. The photos were lightly edited for color and contrast. Looking at these images, it may also be a good time to add that, though the pixel count is low, it does have the largest imaging sites of any crop sensor camera...ever, at least as far as I'm aware, and even if there is a crop sensor camera with larger imaging sites, it's not by much. The comparatively small max resolution of the pics is still beyond adequate for most uses, and the way this camera handles color, even late at night, is just amazing and this frames the pixel count vs image quality debate rather well , I think.
Older, lower mp cameras still take amazing photos, and while the current trend towards higher and higher mp counts is not a bad thing, we, as photo-junkies shouldn't judge prospective camera bodies by mp count alone, or really by any single stat, but rather, what do the final images look like, how does the camera handle, is it good in low light, how are the menus, etc., because this is a far better approach to selecting gear that you can be happy with, and even save some ca$h if you go used. -Stunch
